Contemplation Joel 2:25-26

In this moment, Adonai!
When We are alone with you,
As moments melt in silence,
Those marginalized,
By petulant impetuous powers,
Look to you for restoration.

Men hang swords on silken threads,
That swing over trussed bodies.
Do shaking leaves in a storm,
Feel the imminent separation,
Of existence and belonging,
Before being gathered by the earth?

As our heart bleeds within us,
Like melting snows in spring,
Their calculated coldness chills,
Their signs, winks and handshakes,
Warms no one, these callous shards,
Are hoisted by their own petards.

Rivers evaporate in lazy summer’s heat,
The invisible vapors liberated,
As prayers rising from our souls,
Join with the clouds of our pain,
And become heavy with hope,
And await the showers of your mercy.

Grief sits at our table as we dine,
Cause liars serve a dish of false hopes,
And with animus sit to watch us eat.
But, We break the daily bread in faith,
And We see people and ample harvests,
In gratitude, we accept your loves provisions.
