Lethe

None of this would come to be,
Had Thetis used her gift of prophecy?
And invited Eris to her wedding.

T’was Eris that stirred up this insanity,
When she aroused the curious vanity,
Of who is the fairest of the fairest beings?

Had Zeus practiced fidelity,
And was to Hera true eternally,
None of this would ever come to be.

Gods lusting after their own creation,
And creation lusting for God’s children,
Hence, the lust, the wars, and the bloodletting.

Artemis extracts the price for a hind,
My life for a steady wind she opines,
Cursed wind! that demands my life.

The death demanding Gods will die.
For leading man into Lethean lies,
The Gods too will go into oblivion.

Charlie Bottle's passion is poetry. He has lived on three continents, speaks five languages and loves different cultures, people, music and food. He believes that "Poetry uses the economy of words to express the essence of our humanity." It is this magical use of brevity to express the profound that drew him to poetry. While his professional and personal life has pulled him in different directions, He continues in his discipleship of the craft and writes whenever the muse moves him. While English is his second language it is the language in which he lives, breathes, thinks and writes poetry.
