Surya Namashkar – Sunrise Meditation

  1. In the presence of this moment,
Whose fragrance of being is my being,
Let it live forever in my memories,
That it lived as I lived loving,
    Knowing love, giving love,
Sharing love like a summer breeze,
That to experience it was to breathe.

In the silence of this moment,
In the quiet forests of existence,
Let me forever live in its shade,
    Serenaded by bird songs,
    Their trilling tremolos of glee,
Their floating, fleeting, sounds of joy,
That to feel it was to listen.

In the silken sadness of this moment,
    Dark, shiny, seductive and satinous,
    Whose smoothness wears my soul,
And, in the embrace of her callous touch,
    Let me not linger long.
For though she wears me well,
She casts a pallor on my soul.

In the glory of these moments,
    Full of splendor and awe,
In which love and joy unite,
    In vistas of majestic unions,
    Of oceans, mountains and skies,
    Let me live forever knowing,
That you will love me for eternities.

    In this majestic moment,
When waves rush to embrace the shores,
And then rush back into the sea,
Like the present flows into the future,
And the future returns to the past,
Let Love’s crisp, cool, balmy breeze,
Fill my soul with your love and mercy.

Charlie Bottle's passion is poetry. He has lived on three continents, speaks five languages and loves different cultures, people, music and food. He believes that "Poetry uses the economy of words to express the essence of our humanity." It is this magical use of brevity to express the profound that drew him to poetry. While his professional and personal life has pulled him in different directions, He continues in his discipleship of the craft and writes whenever the muse moves him. While English is his second language it is the language in which he lives, breathes, thinks and writes poetry.
