Silent Prayer

Let my silence speak for me,
Let my silence speak for me!
From the sparks of soul searing pain,
From the raging sea, seething within me,
Ebbing and waning, on the rocks of circumstances,
My hopes, crashing, on the shores of despair,
Turning my dreams, into desolate ruins.
While You, watch from a distance, that grows,
A widening gulf as, hope diminishing,
Runs in the ravines, between desperation,
And depression, while you watch in silence.
And I thought, you loved me,
You said so, you promised me,
That even if I let go,  in the storm,
You would guard me and protect me,
Yet, you have left me,  in this silent emptiness,
With a promise of Love,
A promissory note that, I seek to cash now,
That none can honor, but you.

Elahi! Elahi! Lama Sabacthani!
Oh hear! the groaning of my soul.
Your love, a cool breeze envelopes me.
Sheltering me in this toxic dump.
The stench of tanning vats,
Filled with the liquor of hatred,
Seeks to strip, your love, from my soul,
Your goodness from my side.
Armed with steel mandibles, ravenous locusts,
Ravage, ravage,  ravage, my peace of mind,
Until a barren, insanity, echoes,
Like howling storm winds, and screech like banshees.
From this emptiness, I call on your name,
If you will not draw near me,
Then, Forsake me not, and call me to you,
For I cannot bear your absence,
I cannot exist without your love,
Hide not your face from me,
Adonai! Eloheinu! Melech Ha Olam!
Answer my enemies, my trust is in you.
Like a lamb before the wolves,  I bleat,
Hear me! Oh Shepherd of my soul!
Save me from those who hate you,
Hear the incessant prayers of my soul,
Seeking redress from your throne in heaven,
And, guide me to purpose of my existence.

Charlie Bottle's passion is poetry. He has lived on three continents, speaks five languages and loves different cultures, people, music and food. He believes that "Poetry uses the economy of words to express the essence of our humanity." It is this magical use of brevity to express the profound that drew him to poetry. While his professional and personal life has pulled him in different directions, He continues in his discipleship of the craft and writes whenever the muse moves him. While English is his second language it is the language in which he lives, breathes, thinks and writes poetry.
